Abstract
The New Experimental Storage Ring (NESR) at the FAIR facility in GSI, will be used to manipulate radioactive ion and antiproton beams. For this ring, there is the possibility of using warm iron superferric dipoles. These dipoles are required to operate in AC mode. ELYTT Energy S.L. has worked with GSI, through collaboration with the Spanish CSIC to perform a conceptual design of these magnets. The most challenging task is to design the coil cryostat and the coil pack so that the eddy current losses are minimized under AC operation.
