Abstract :
It is pointed out that a previously published analysis (ibid., vol.QE-23, no.8, p.1256-60, 1987) contains errors. Corrections to the analysis are given, the corrected results are discussed, an ambiguity in the presentation of the experiment is noted, and the experimental data for superluminescent diodes are related to theoretical results for ideal lasers or thermal sources.
