Abstract :
The intention of this letter is to clarify various aspects related to the combined use of spatial diversity and multiuser diversity in a mobile network. We consider a system with one base station and K users, and study five different spatial diversity transmission modes. We show that in general, the multiuser diversity benefit is not reduced by the proper use of spatial diversity. Numerical examples are provided.
