Abstract
This paper describes a framework for consent- based communications in SIP. This framework allows users to grant or deny SIP entities permission to communicate with those users. Consent-based communications prevent some types of amplification-based denial of service attacks and can be used to alleviate the effects of spam in SIP. This paper also presents the results of our experiments implementing this framework.
