Abstract :
The characteristic phenomena of demodulated waveform distortion and bit error rate (BER) performance deterioration caused by stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in CPFSK coherent optical transmission systems with erbium doped optical fibre booster amplifiers are investigated for the first time, experimentally. The effectiveness of reducing the BER deterioration by adjusting the threshold voltage bias of the decision circuit in a 2.5 Gbit/s heterodyne receiver is clarified
