Abstract
The commenter discusses work by Wang et al. (ibid., vol. 28, no. 25, p. 2320-1, 1992) which describes the improvement of FFT-based interpolation by pre-subtraction of a linear ramp from the data block, to remove any discontinuity of value between the two ends of the block; the linear ramp is then added back in after interpolation. He compares their results with those of his own work (Macleod, ibid., vol. 29, no. 13, p. 1200-1, 1993) and suggests that Wang has misinterpreted his data in a later paper (ibid., vol. 29, no. 22, p. 1918-20, 1993). In reply, Wang et al. acknowledge some of Macleod´s comments as valuable but refute other criticisms
