Abstract :
Research efforts aimed at developing an effective and economical electrochemical power source for electric road vehicles (EVs) are examined. The two goals are to extend the range of EVs, i.e. the distance they can go on a simple charge, and to cut the recharging time. The various kinds of battery are described, and their advantages and drawbacks are identified.<>
