Abstract :
This paper describes a study of tree growth in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) at the inception voltage under surge and dc conditions. Inception voltage and initial tree penetration are sensitive to polarity, a consequence of space charge injection. All trees are composed of similar branch segments. Results are discussed in terms of the PMMA structure.
