Abstract :
The authors report the temperature dependence of the effective perpendicular anisotropy and interface anisotropy in the temperature region of 80 K to 290 K for Co/Pt and Co/Au multilayers. Different temperature dependences of the interface anisotropy have been observed for these two types of multilayers. It is suggested that the strain due to the lattice misfit may not be the main cause of the perpendicular anisotropy in Co/Pt and Co/Au multilayers
