Abstract :
Magnetic and electrical transport measurements are reported for two La-based ternary germanides La3Pt2Ge2 and La3Rh2Ge2. The former was found to be a new superconducting material with a critical temperature Tc = 2.8 K, and the latter exhibits a type-II superconducting transition at Tc = 3.6 K in agreement with data reported recently. For both samples, detailed measurements of magnetization in various temperatures and AC susceptibility in various applied magnetic fields were preformed. A number of the relevant parameters were estimated using these data.
