            Abstract :
In Gd/Fe multilayers, the crystallographic structure and the magnetic properties are examined for various layer thicknesses, dFe and dGd. The structure changes from crystalline to amorphous below 20 Å of dFe or dGd. In the amorphous region, the thickness dependence of the Curie temperature and the magnetization is explained consistently by the mean field theory
