Abstract :
Numerical studies on the linear induction motor with a short stator are carried out to evaluate its feasible maximum payload ratio, considering its application for an actuator with vertical movement. The dependency of the ratio on a set of machine parameters is obtained. The payload ratio higher than three is shown to be realizable
