Abstract :
The performance of frequency shift keying distribution systems incorporating semiconductor laser preamplifiers are discussed. Upper bound on the performance which provides an appropriate means of assessing system performance is presented and used to explore the degree to which widely adopted Gaussian approximation accurately predicts error rate performance
