Abstract :
An analytical method is presented for a quick evaluation of the performance of iron backed cross-field heating systems, which are used for the heat treatment of thin sheets. The method is based on conformal transformation and is useful for the estimation of the incident air gap field. Close form expressions are given for the reactance of the exciting coil under open circuit when there is no load, and under short circuit when the load is replaced by a perfectly conducting sheet
