Abstract
An experimental study of the distribution and causes of the iron loss occurring in a parametric induction motor is described, with a view to further improving the characteristics of a motor and establishing the design method of the motor. It is clarified that a greater part of the iron loss in the motor occurs in the common magnetic circuit, and is caused by an alternating magnetic flux normal to the lamination plane. It is also clarified that the iron loss occurring in the common magnetic circuit is closely related to the magnetic anisotropy and the area of contacting surfaces between the exciting cores and the common magnetic circuit
