Abstract :
The authors point out that in spite of poor mechanical properties and low electric resistivity, pure iron sheets are more and more used in electrical engineering because of their high working induction, related to high magnetization to saturation. Preferential texture, such as {100}<0kl>, may further increase the advantage of these laminations. A process based on ferritic hot rolling allows pure iron sheets about 0.40 mm thick to be produced, with a marked texture component misoriented around {100}<001>, consistent with 7.5-8.5 kJ/m3 in final torque peak magnitude M1. In comparison with today´s non-oriented sheets (M1≈5 kJ/m3), magnetic properties are significantly improved, giving for example 1.85 to 1.95 T in induction for a 5000 A/m applied field
