Abstract :
Gallium arsenide has been investigated as a waveguide-cladding material for use as a cutoff polarizer for integrated optics. Calculations show that a 20 nm thick film of GaAs can be used to select either the TM0mode or both TM0and TE0modes, while maintaining a guide attenuation of less than 100 cm-1.
