Abstract :
A tilted-finger chirp transducer which had evolved from multiple tilted-tranducers was used to realize wide-band acoustooptic Bragg deflection in a Y -cut LiNbO3waveguide. A deflector bandwidth of 50 percent centered at 500 MHz and a diffraction efficiency of 16 percent at an RF drive power of 200 mw have been measured. Some comments on the relative merits of a tilted-finger chirp transducer versus multiple transducers for wide-band acoustooptic Bragg deflection are made.
