Abstract :
FeCo films multilayered with nonmagnetic NiCr and Cr thin films was investigated. [FeCo/NiCr]n multilayered films indicated a much lower remanent flux density and coercivity than the FeCo single-layered films. The [FeCo/Cr]n multilayered films showed antiferromagnetic coupling and a Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yoshida-like oscillating interaction, due to the flat interface between the FeCo and the Cr. We fabricated the single-pole-tip write heads with FeCo multilayered films and found that the heads with the antiferromagnetic coupling at the main pole suppressed the erase-after-write.
