Abstract :
On first sight, the title of this anthology is quite misleading. Not one of the numerous "how to write a better program" books, On the Construction of Programs is, instead, a collection of papers presented at a seminar at Queen\´s University (Belfast) in 1979. The central theme trying them together is a discussion of parallel processing and other issues at the fore-front of language design.
