Abstract :
The processing of metal strip is a vast industry, providing material for such diverse fields of application as steel automobile panels and aluminium cans. At some time in its production history the strip is usually heated. Induction heating, with its excellent controllability and response, is unequalled for the heating of metal at very high power density. Its application in transverse flux mode utilising electricity efficiently at megawatt power levels is discussed
