  • Abstract
Kludges. Most of the data base management systems that I am familiar with fall under this heading—systems that have been slapped together to meet a need and a deadline. But Ullman´s text represents the opinion that data base management systems can be described, and even designed, in a rigorous and systematic manner. After reading his book, I am inclined to agree with his position.
