Abstract :
Time projection chambers offer unique capabilities for detection of fast neutrons from special nuclear material. We have demonstrated a directional detector for fast neutrons based on a hydrogen-filled time projection chamber. Experimental results for imaging of a fissile material surrogate 252Cf source are presented. Strategies for background rejection via particle identification are discussed.
