Abstract :
A novel electromechanical system capable of 3D displacement has been designed and built to be used in the automatic calibration of portable radiation monitors. The relevant feature of the system is that can adjust very precisely the position of the monitor in front of the standard radiation sources. The distance between source and monitor can be adjusted from 40 cm to 700 cm, assuring a plusmn0.1 cm uncertainty. In order to ensure a reliable operation and comply with the incumbent official technical standards, a study of the power quality was conducted to prevent any form of undesirable operation as a result of electric disturbances.
