Abstract
Simulations of induction motors for power system studies are often hampered by unavailable and/or inaccurate parameter data. A method for the in situ measurement of the parameters of a machine and load combination is given. This uses an output error estimation technique combined with supply voltage perturbations. The technique yields optimum parameter values with minimum disruption to the machine´s normal operation. Verifying tests were conducted on individual motors as well as for a group of machines. The results indicate good correlation between estimated values and values obtained from conventional tests
