Abstract :
Three decades ago, the development of the transistor threatened to relegate radio valves to the museums. But tube technology, against most expectations, has had no difficulty in staying ahead of the upstart science of solid-state electronics. The author presents a history of tube development from 1908 to the present day. Modern UHF broadcasting equipment, suitable for the application of such tube technology are also described
