Abstract :
The temperature dependence of the Faraday effect in a diamagnetic material can be compensated for by varying the polarisation state of the light entering the material as a function of temperature. The authors demonstrate that this can be done automatically by exploiting the temperature dependence of a linear retarder (waveplate).
