Abstract :
Multimedia is the combination of text, graphics, audio, animation, and full-motion video. To realize a multimedia platform, traditional magnetic disks and simple graphics cards and displays are not enough. Compact disk drives must be used for storage and super VGA adapters are needed for the graphics. The paper explains the hardware requirements of a multimedia computer system and describes some of the first multimedia products that have come to market. Each of the hardware subsystems has been used before, separately, but the integration of these systems is a much more complicated task
