Abstract
The author discusses an electricity supply problem in a hospital to introduce the concept of power quality. The term power quality describes how an electric power system and the loads connected to it work together. The author discusses the kind of disturbances to a power system that affect power quality and the measures that can be taken to improve the quality of the power delivered. Another example of power quality problems, concerned with telephone lines, is discussed.<>
