Abstract :
The theory of a basically new type of the volume high-pressure discharge with the electron production being maintained by means of photoionization of the electron-excited particles (electrophotoionized (EPI) discharge) is developed. This discharge may be used for pumping powerful lasers in the UV and visible band.
