Abstract
An effective fiberoptic broadband solution can help electric utilities redesign business environments, add value to existing products and services, and introduce new possibilities. Such a communication system, linking a whole enterprise, requires an effective infrastructure backbone on which other suitable technologies may be integrated. This article reviews the plan and implementation of the Scarborough Public Utilities Commission (USA) backbone system
