Abstract :
Grid voltage waveform d i s t o r t i o n r a n k s w i t h o u t p u t transformer inadequacies among Class B audio amplifiers deficiencies. This article d e a l s w i t h t h e problem of grid voltage waveform distortionand suggests the use of low p l a t e r e s i s t a n c e low mu triode tubes as a solution. By avoiding operating conditions which r e s u l t i n grid current, the major source of distortion i s eliminated. Direct coupled d r i v i n g c i r c u i t s which encourage large amounts of inverse feedback a r e r e a d i l y employed under such conditions. A typical amplifier and its measured characteristics i s used f o r i l l u s t r a t i o n .
