Abstract :
A method for generating single-sideband suppressed carrier modulation using a modulator consisting of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer and a polarizing element is proposed. The technique is demonstrated using a dual-drive Mach-Zehnder modulator, a 90deg RF hybrid, and a polarizing beam splitter. A sideband suppression of 20 dB and a carrier suppression of 32 dB are obtained
