            Abstract :
We report a technique for increasing the laser-induced breakdown threshold in NaCl. Single-crystal NaCl was heated to near melting and rapidly quenched. This treatment resulted in a factor of 4.6 increase in the laser-induced damage threshold of the NaCl.
