Abstract :
Phenomenon of picosecond photoconductivity has gained importance recently due to ultrafast optoelectronic switching. We describe the various theoretical considerations, which need to be taken into account during any analysis to this phenomenon. It is also pointed out that the conductive as well as dielectric properties of the photo-induced plasma can be used to control the wave propagation depending on the wavelength of the electromagnetic waves. Various possible applications of this phenomenon are discussed.
