Abstract
The effects of a protecting dielectric superstrate on the radiation pattern of an X-band rectangular microstrip patch antenna have been studied experimentally. Results indicate that although, at higher substrate thicknesses, the resonance frequency does not shift further, the radiation pattern drastically changes into two or three lobes, depending on superstrate thickness.
