Abstract :
Instability of an electrooptic bistable device with a delayed feedback voltage is discussed theoretically and experimentally. The effects of optical input power, feedback gain, biasing phase retardation, and delay on the instability are described, and the sustained oscillatory optical output is generated under the unstable condition. A quasi-chaotic behavior of the device is also shown.
