Abstract :
This article focuses on a new initiative currently being developed and underway to address in a real sense the issues faced by the power and energy industry in terms of future education and research needs - the power and energy initiative in the Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. The University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) has launched a comprehensive power and energy initiative in response to workforce and technology development opportunities in the area of electric power engineering, nuclear engineering and mining engineering.
