Abstract
Reports data for optical damage studies of the Me:MgO:LiNbO3 crystals (Me=Nd, Er, Ho and Fe, with 6 mol.% MgO). These crystals are found to be able to withstand a continuous-wave laser power density of about 2 MW/cm2 (using a focused Ar laser at 515 nm) without any noticeable change to the light spot within a time scale of at least 30 seconds.
