Abstract :
The IEEE Transactions on Education is pleased to congratulate the editors of IEEE-RITA on publishing the first edition of their journal. IEEE-RITA (1) was approved by the Administrative Committee of the IEEE Education Society in its meeting of 19 June 2006 as a pilot project (a) to demonstrate new ways of providing information and knowledge to non-English readers and (b) to collect data on potential reader interest and (2) is pending the approval of the IEEE Technical Activities Board and the IEEE Publication, Services and Products Board. The publication is electronic, is published in Spanish and Portuguese, and can be found at http://webs.uvigo.es/cesei/RITA/en/. Upon formal IEEE approval, IEEE-RITA will be published quarterly (February, May, August and November). During the initial, pilot phase, two issues will be published annually - in May and November. IEEE-RITA is a publication launched by the Spanish Chapter of the Education Society of IEEE, through its Technical Committee, of Accreditation and Evaluation, and supported by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science through complementary action TSI2005-24068-E, Thematic Network of CESEI. The papers presented in the first issue are listed.
