Abstract :
20-element resonant-optical-waveguide antiguided arrays have been optimised for high-performance CW operation. Diffraction-limited-beam CW operation is obtained to 0.5 W; that is, far-field beam patterns of 0.7 degrees lobe width are achieved. External differential quantum-efficiency values of 42% are obtained, whereas electrical-to-optical power conversion efficiencies at 0.5 W CW are as high as 20%.
