Abstract
A small-size (23 ×6 ×0.4 mm3) uniplanar antenna designed for dual-band 2.4/5-GHz wireless local area network (WLAN) operations in laptop applications is proposed. The structure of the proposed antenna is a double-folded monopole type, in which good impedance matching is achieved by loading a tuning stub and a beveled structure into the shorting strip. Here, the ground section (23 × 1.5 mm 2) of the proposed antenna is attached to a small adhesive ground plane (AGP), so that it can be attached to the laptop ground plane without having to perform any manual soldering. Further studies on attaching the proposed antenna to an actual laptop computer have also been experimentally conducted.
