Abstract :
The problem of modelling the evolution of the measures (analogue values) acquired by energy control centres, to find a statistical predictor for future values is discussed. The prediction technique obtained is used to reduce the number of bits required to transmit an analogue value from a remote terminal unit (RTU) to the relevant control centre. Significant improvements have been obtained with reduced computational effort.<>
