Abstract :
The persisting problem associated with ultrawideband (UWB) antenna design is the lack of an efficient method to characterize the antenna system. In this paper, the characteristics of the antenna system are described by a transfer function. In order to alleviate the computation intensity, a modified model based parameter estimation method is applied to the rational modeling of the transfer function by employing the intrinsic features of the UWB antenna system. With this modified rational modeling method, only a small quantity of samples is needed to give a complete representation of the performance of the UWB antenna system. Therefore, the characterization of the UWB system is largely accelerated while maintaining results with high accuracy
