Abstract :
A selfaligned packaging technique using Si submounts for potentially low cost fabrication of discrete and array fibre pigtailed surface emitting lasers is reported. Essentially 100% coupling efficiency and more than 0.5 mW output power multimode fibre pigtailed laser packages were demonstrated.
