Abstract :
Theoretical arguments given in support of the Adams-Nussbaum heterojunction lineup theory are at best circular, and the theory must be considered as being without physical basis, even if it did not disagree with observations. The von Roos theory is invalid due to the neglect of image-force like polarizing forces near the interface.
