Abstract :
Estimations are derived for the computation rate and the volume of storage needed in sequences of half-band finite-duration impulse-response (FIR) filters used for sample rate reduction or increase. Application to narrow-band filtering is considered and two illustrative examples are given. The accurate and quick evaluation of the half-band filter approach obtained is useful for general design and can serve for comparison with other multirate techniques.
