Abstract
Previously, several modifications of the Weldon ARQ scheme for use in systems with limited receiver buffers have been studied. In the letter, an incremental redundancy ARQ scheme which uses rate compatible punctured convolutional codes is proposed and its throughput efficiency analysed. It is found that the system yields a comparatively high throughput over a wide range of channel conditions, thus making it attractive for use on time-varying channels.
