Complexity arises from heterogeneity and lack of interoperability. Each consumer electronic device can have a unique set of data storage formats as well as its own way of organizing that data on disk. While most devices have mechanisms to synchronize their content with a personal computer, these mechanisms are typically device-specific and require the user´s manual participation in deciding which data to copy
