Abstract :
The distribution of the drawing induced defect, identified by its characteristic emission, has been profiled across germano-silicate core optical fibre preforms using the cathodoluminescence technique. The defects have been found to be concentrated in regions of high thermoelastic stress gradients: at the core-cladding interface and in the central Ge depletion region.
